Review: Slammer shower gel, It’s Raining Men shower gel, Yummy Mummy shower gel, Yuzu & Cocoa shower cream, Don’t Rain On My Parade shower gel

If you have as many Lush shower gels as I do, it’s nearly an impossible task to review them all separately. (Edit 2024: I wrote this in 2013 when I reviewed a LOT of products, not just Lush, that’s why I didn’t do a in-depth review on these Lush products) That’s why I decided to review 5 shower gels in 1 blog post today! I’ll talk about each of the shower gel’s scent and if I liked it or not, so you’ll know exactly what shower gel to buy!

Slammer
I’m starting off with Slammer, which was recently for sale in the Lush Kitchen. This bottle contains an orange/red shower gel and smells incredibly good thanks to the lime, honey and lemon in it. It’s fruity, but also very zesty. The lime is definitely present, but also contains a hint of warm honey. It kind of reminds me of the Happy Hippy shower gel, but that one’s way more fresh. Slammer is ideal for early mornings. Rinse that grouchy morning mood right through the drain!

Slammer lathers up perfectly and leaves my skin soft. It doesn’t dry out my skin, and the scent can be smelled subtly on my skin. The scent also works wonders for my mood! Definitely a great shower gel for those combatting early mornings or bad morning moods.

Yummy Mummy
Up next is Yummy Mummy, a lilac colored shower gel from the Mother’s Day 2015 range. It contains orange oil and tonka. This is one of my less favorite scents. It’s a sweet and floral scent, like violets. An unique flowery scent, but it smells somewhat musty to me. I’ve never liked any products sharing this scent, but I do know others are living for this scent. It’s either a hit or a miss for you.

In the shower, the scent is less musty and actually smells better now. It lathers up great and turns my shower into a flower field. My skin feels incredibly soft afterwards–more than when I use other shower gels, probably thanks to the carrageenan extract! The scent lingers on the skin, but not as strong as straight from the bottle.

It’s Raining Men (Update 2024: this shower gel has been renamed Honey I Washed The Kids)

This OG shower gel has been around for a long time. It shares its scent with their most bestselling soap: Honey I Washed The Kids. This product is such a classic! A warm and sweet mix of vanilla, Butterscotch, caramel and honey. Don’t smell this if you’re hungry. The shower gel contains honey, rose hip and tiger lily petal infusion, Brazilian orange oil and bergamot.

This baby makes my skin silky soft and leaves an incredible scent. It lathers up really good! My boyfriend could smell this shower gel while he was at the other end of the hall way. I love this classic scent, I could use this every day of the week. Definitely a must have if you haven’t tried it yet!

Yuzu and Cocoa

This shower cream has been for sale since awhile now (edit 2024: it’s discontinued now) and has a cheerful yellow color. The scent is AMAZING–it smells like jammed orange peels. In The Netherlands we have a chocolate candy that tastes exactly like this shower gel, they’re called sinas snippers. Not that I have tasted the shower cream, but you know, the scent and the taste are the same. The scent is a mix of chocolade and oranges. Sweet, fruity, zesty combined with warm chocolate-y notes. Perfect.

The difference between a shower cream and a shower gel is that a shower cream will lather up less, but is more hydrating for the skin. The texture is as thick as a shower gel. The shower cream will still lather up quite a bit, making it easy to massage onto the skin. As with the other shower gels, this scents makes me drool! My skin feels very soft afterwards and I really hope we’ll get a body lotion with this scent one day.

Don’t Rain On My Parade
This Oxford Street exclusive is for sale in England (update 2024: I’m not sure if it still is!). It’s got a beautiful dark green, blue-ish color and the text on the bottle is from Barbra Streisand’s “Don’t Rain On My Parade”, a song from 1964. It contains violets, vanilla, blueberries, sandalwood, vetiver and ylang ylang. This scent is sweet, but also earthy and green. It’s too much violets for me, and scentwise it reminds me too much of Yummy Mummy.

This is getting boring now, but also this shower gel makes my skin super soft. I can’t really pick up the scent on my skin anymore, but with this scent, I don’t mind at all. A soft skin, that’s enough for me! Neither of these shower gels from this blog post dried out my skin. Overall I’m very happy with the shower gels and some of the scents really became a big favorite of mine!
