Not being around the Lush community for 2.5 years has gotten me out of touch with all the new products. Sticky Dates was one of the products that sparked my curiosity, especially after seeing people raving about this scent. After learning this product has a sweet gourmand scent, I was sold. If there’s one thing that makes me happy in life, it’s food and food-scented products. (Okay, two things) There was absolutely no hesitation ordering new stuff from the website—I HAD to grab myself all the Sticky Dates goodies. Today I’m kicking off with the body lotion!

What is it?
Lush Sticky Dates Body Lotion costs £10.00 / $15.00 / €14,00 (100g) and is available in 100g and 250g. I grabbed myself a 100g bottle since I’m not a huge body lotion user, I even tend to use it for my hands since they’re dry AF. This body lotion is a welcome addition to the Sticky Date scent family, or as Lush says “a fan-favorite”. I understand the hype, but I’ll elaborate on the scent below. This body lotion, of course, contains a shitload of amazing ingredients that will guarantee your skin to be hydrated and soft afterwards. Let’s continue to see what ingredients are exactly in this heavenly goodie.
What’s inside?
Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Sunflower Oil, Vanilla Pod Decoction, Organic Jojoba Oil, Glycerine, Fair Trade Organic Cocoa Butter, Stearic Acid, Organic Illipe Butter, Perfume, Triethanolamine, Carob Resinoid, Benzoin Resinoid, Sandalwood Oil, Gardenia Extract, Cetearyl Alcohol, *Benzyl Benzoate, *Cinnamal
Besides water being the main ingredient (which always baffles me, since water is very drying to our skin) we have sunflower oil, a simple yet effective hydrator—just like jojoba oil and glycerine. Vanilla pod decoction has been added to give this body lotion its a-ma-zing scent: sweet, warm and comforting. Cocoa butter and illipe butter are badass hydrators, a must have ingredient for this kind of stuff. All in all a very promising ingredients list.
I actually expected this body lotion to come in a pot, not a bottle. I absolutely love bottles though, since it’s easier to use and more hygienic as well. The texture of the body lotion isn’t as thin as I thought—it’s actually a pretty firm body lotion. It’s not very liquid, yet perfect to massage onto the skin.
Scent
The scent is.. heavenly. That’s it. Pure heaven. Warm, creamy, sweet, scrumptious. Caramel realness. Lovers of Honey I Washed The Kids and Let The Good Times Roll will drool at this scent. It’s a rich scent with a sliiight spicy touch to it. (I’m guessing the vanilla?) It’s not overly sweet like HIWTK, and not as buttery as LTGTR, so I think Lush did a great job creating a new scent that doesn’t resemble any other scent family.
What do I think?
I tested this body lotion on both my arms and my hands. I have to admit—using it on my hands isn’t great. It leaves an oily residue which I don’t like having on my hands. I already have trouble holding onto stuff because I’m so clumsy, let alone with oily hands. But on my arms, it’s amazing! The oily layer isn’t too present, so I can put my sleeves down and not being annoyed at how sticky my arm feels underneath my sleeve. It makes my skin feel suuuper soft and smooth. The scent is a bit toned down on my skin, it smells like my old vanilla-scented Lipsmackers that I use to own 20 years ago. I’m still very happy with this product though, because after applying it, my skin stays hydrated for hours and hours. You only need a tiny bit because the product is so concentrated.
This body lotion is a godsend for those combatting dry and flaky skin! The scent lingers for about 20 minutes before “disappearing”, which I hope to extend by using the body spray that I just ordered this afternoon 😌 I wish Lush would release more of these body lotions, a 100g bottle is perfect to put in my bag or at my desktop.

De Lipsmackers, is dat alweer zo lang geleden? Ik weet dat nog zo goed. Deze bodylotion lijkt me wel heel fijn 😀
